“If two heads are better than one, five or six can kick ass.”
So says FastCompany in this article about the value of mastermind groups.
If you’ve read Napolean Hill’s Think and Grow Rich, then you know that mastermind groups were an integral part of the successes of Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, Marshal Field and many, many more.
I have facilitated and moderated mastermind groups since 2009.
Regardless of which type of group you are in, you can expect the following benefits:
- Mutual Support
- Group members…
- Discovery – can often be viewed as a group that helps you discover opportunities
- Focus on the ideal future … and how to get there
- Accountability … helping you to get things done
The point of all my mastermind groups is that we’re meeting to help each other succeed. I provide guidance, I make sure every member has their time to speak and I make sure that the discussion stays on track.
Agenda for Goal Setting and Accountability
We meet for 1.5 – 2.5 hours (dependent on number of members in the group)
A shared spreadsheet using Google Docs has all member information, goals, steps they intend to take to attain that goals. Another tab is Resources, where members share the resources they’ve found helpful. Another tab is Rules of Conduct, which are part of the Agreement you sign before joining the group.
Each member has 15 minutes to share their goals, what steps they took to attain that week’s goals, what changes they made to their goals and why they made them. Usually this takes less than 10 minutes, so I open the floor for Questions and Guidance from the other members.
After all members have had their 15 minutes of floor time, the discussion is opened for 30 minutes. This is for the questions that didn’t get asked, sharing of additional thoughts/points considered after someone has already spoken.
Does this sound like what you’re looking for?
